What is the real pain for business women and how it is affecting business?
I’ve been attending focus group style “startup conversations” and the same challenges reemerge. And the constant theme? Technology.
We all know that technology creates efficiency, productivity, connectivity and opportunities for passive income, but nonetheless finding our way through and keeping up with the pace of products, skills, jargon and programs available can get downright overwhelming.
But more perplexingly, is knowing technology can help, but not understanding the problems well enough to make advances. Compounding this confusion, is once we overcome the first hurdle of identifying exactly what the problem is, lies the challenge of picking the right solution among the hundreds on the market.
No wonder we’re confused! It’s challenging enough growing and running a business without the additional burden of keeping informed of latest tech advances. However, the right tools can literally make or break businesses, especially in the early stage when man-power and revenue is low, and the core business is dependent on a smooth tech infrastructure.
According to the focus groups, the common issues among business owners are: invoicing, manual processes, contact management, multiple software interfaces, team collaboration, online marketing and skills gaps – and all on a shoestring budget. Such is the ongoing struggle of resource allocation and making sure the right solutions are implemented!
Based on a survey of 108 female established and aspiring entrepreneurs, the biggest tech challenge that stands in the way of addressing these issues is lack of knowledge and training around technology products. It’s no coincidence then, that results show just 21% are currently using productivity tools to power businesses. In a time where tech can make or break business, here are some resources for leveraging tech in your business
