WHEN NEGATIVITY CREEPS IN & YOUR MIND FEELS LIKE SCRAMBLED EGGS

when negativity creeps in

I once had hypnotherapy about my aversion to oily eggs. Just the thought of two sunny side ups floating haphazardly in a pool of oil was enough to send me heaving.

One of the downsides of having a visual imagination is that you can literally think yourself into puking.

The mind is a powerful thing. By merely thinking of something, we can alter our reality.

We can trigger a spiral of emotions, cause bodily reactions (alas, the body is always doing its own responsive dance, whether we are aware of it or not) and manifest the reactions that become our Life.

The mind is a frenemy.

Although NLP (and other word-association schools of thought) may teach us that viewing our mind as a potential enemy isn’t particularly healthy, I can’t think of a more apt comparison.

Our mind can be a tool in creating the life we’ve always wanted, or it can destroy our happiness.

With insistence, judgments, unchecked negativity and “limiting beliefs” (as the coaches say) it can single-handedly talk us out our dreams and motivation.

Our mind says you can’t when you can.

It says you’re broke when you have everything you need.

It says you’re not good enough when all you really need is permission to fail until you finally succeed.

Or that you need to BE more, DO more and HAVE more to feel happiness.

Damn, the mind is a powerful thing.

And a plate of eggs is just a plate of eggs. It all depends on how you choose to look at it.

It’s a simple concept, but its a concept that can change your life.

I posted a quote the other day on my facebook page that said

“Happiness, not in another place but this place…not for another hour, but this hour”

It was like a smack in the face. A loving smack in the face, reminding me that the choice is ways there.

Happiness is always there. Positivity is always there. It is only a choice away.

So what choices are you making?
